Hi, I'm Panda. And You Are...?

Now, I have nothing against lurkers. You want to read but dont feel like talking, thats fine. Maybe you feel you dont have anything to add to the conversation, maybe you're shy, maybe you cant operate a keyboard...you know, whatever. Its all cool.

But I kinda think its good manners that, if you like what you read so much that you spend 6 hours a day over several days going through my entire archives, you drop me an email and say "hey, cool blog" or "hey, I've really enjoyed reading your story" or even "hey, you're a total trainwreck, its been real."

So would the person from or near Rhodes NSW who uses uu.net as their ISP please just say hi. And please dont turn out to be my goddamn brother.

    There are ways of dealing with people like your brother.

    I'm a newish reader (who has previously said hi and added self to your map, and am from Melb rather than NSW). I usually feel shy about commenting on the more personal and dramatic aspects of your life, because who wants some stranger saying, "Wow, that sucks, I hope things get better soon!"? But to summarise my own thoughts on your blog:
    - Your brother sucks and is not likely to ever realise how much of an areshole he is;
    - Spudly is adorable;
    - Monkey Boy sounds like the best hunk of a husband a gal like you could have by her side;
    - I hope the hospital people decide your mum is incapable of making her own care decisions and do what they think is best;
    - You rock, even when things are sucky.
    Keep bloggin'!

    Hi Panda,

    I'm also a lurker, who was emailed your URL by Veevs. And I've read through your archives, but that was because I was home sick and I liked your writing style. :-) I'm in Melbourne, and am eternally grateful that I'm not a person remotely like your brother.
    On that note, I wanted to congratulate you on having the strength to cut off all contact wit h such a poisonous person. I thought it particularly important that your sweet Spudly never ever gets the idea that rape is "an inconvenience" or a woman's fault or any such rubbish. While your hunky MonkeyBoy and yourself will never let such happen, it really reinforces the point when he (eventually) asks why there's no contact with that side of the family.
    Feel free to tell me to shut up/go away/drop dead. And good luck with your parents.

  7. Kirstenfleur, thanks for delurking!

    I want to make one thing perfectly clear: I will never EVER tell a reader to shut up/go away/drop dead unless you are a) a total troll who is here only to dump on me b) any one of the following: my brother, my ex Fuckhead, any of the people I have cut out of my life for damn good reasons.

    Everyone else is welcome welcome welcome!

  8. Hi Panda, Ive commented a few times, but am mainly a lurker. I have 3 children, (Almost 6 year old) Twins, Ned and Celia, and 9 month old Oscar. Im very busy, and sometimes I just dont have time to post comments!

    I read about 20 blogs over a few days every day, but lurk at most of them, just hoping that things go well for all the wonderful women who write them.

    Ive been very sad for you regarding the trouble with your parents and brother. I lost my Mum and Dad to cancer 10 years ago, and while that was devestating, I always knew there were worse things that could happen to a loved one than fairly sudden death. :/

    I also love your passionate writing style. And I think Spudly is beautiful. :) We were pregnant at the same time, I read your blog every day!

    The other day I did leave your blog up on my computer for about 8 hours.. over night, then in the morn when I went shopping!

    So I have formally introduced myself.. Felicity; Lurker; busy Mum! (NSW- near Sydney)

    Have a great Christmas to you and your lovely little Family.

Comments make blogging a conversation, rather than mere self-indulgent navel-gazing. Look at that big empty space down there...just waiting for your thoughts.
