Batten down the yardmasts! Trim off the anchor! Bring me another cabin boy, this one's busted!*

I have to admit to something.

I like pirates.

Our engagement party was a Pirate Party. I was a wench, and Monkey Boy was the Cabin Boy (whom I later busted). The most original costumes were Varz wearing Aaaarrrgyle, and Mollarky, dressed as a sleazy video pirate.

My most-watched video is Tripod Tell The Tale of the Adventures of Tosswinkle The Pirate (not very well). I can recite every line. Its sad, I know.

Thus, (thus? Who the hell says thus?) I thought it beholden on me to spread the word about INTERNATIONAL TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY on September 19.

'ere be the links, aaarrrr

*I didnt write this line. Some very funny boys did.

  1. Have you seen The Pirate Movie? For a while you could buy it for $10 from Coles. It's an Australian film that stars the Werribee Mansion as a castle and Polly Woodside from the Melbourne Maritime Museum as a pirate ship. Very, very funny movie. Lots of swearing and dodgey comments. Last Pirate Day we were watching it with friends and had to pause it because one guy was hyperventilating because he couldn't stop laughing.

"What have we missed during these 20 years at sea men?"

    "SEX!"

Oh, and the Captain wears a squeaky codpiece and the head of police is Norman Gunston.

(My 21st was a pirate and mermaid party :))

  2. Cool!! I love it!

Attila and I think we've nailed down the theme for our wedding... Marco Polo and the Silk Road.... Mediterannean/Asian fusion with lots of draped silks in shades of cinnamon, saffron, aubergine... we'll probably make it a costume event... and I plan on wearing RED... I LOVE that you wore purple...

But... who knows if we'll ever actually get married... because I have a strange superstition that we shouldn't get married until I'm pregnant...

Comments make blogging a conversation, rather than mere self-indulgent navel-gazing. Look at that big empty space down there...just waiting for your thoughts.
